You should stay with it. Try shading with the pencil. The bar at bottom left is size. The bar at bottom right is opacity.

I want to say.... 17th century Tokugawa yabusame... but with a pike instead of a short bow... How close am I?

@Nicholas Krieger In the end I decided some dude went crazy and just drew a cool picture, and some other dude came along and colored it. 😀
